35mm drama wrap

Latest News

Omni call “It’s a Wrap!” on principle photography for our latest film production 'Leaving'.

Omni Productions reunite with Glennie Mcintosh after last year’s award winning drama The Overdose Notes. This time they have been commissioned by a partnership of public and voluntary sector agencies in Wiltshire* to address the issue of domestic abuse.

‘Leaving,’ is the story of Helen (played by BAFTA nominee Kierston Wareing) as she attempts to free herself and her son Liam (Joe Siffleet) from her abusive partner Jim (Johnny Harris). This twenty three minute drama was filmed in five days in and around the South West using 35mm Fuji film stock.

Written in-house by Richard Penfold, who previously won Gold for 'Best Script' at the prestigious IVCA awards. This is another powerful drama from directorial team Richard Penfold and Sam Hearn, produced by Rachel Drummond-Hay, all of Omni Productions.

The Glennie - Omni partnership was created to make powerful Social Film Drama highlighting the plight of some of Britain’s most vulnerable people.

The film is due for completion in early July and will have its first TV broadcast in late 2008.

The Home Office confirms that one incident relating to domestic abuse is reported to the police every minute - these are only the victims that come forward. On average there will be thirty five assaults before a victim calls the police. Statistics can also be found confirming two women are killed every week by a current or former male partner.

Statistics were taken from the Crime in England and Wales 2006/07 report and the Women’s aid website.

Information on domestic abuse can be found: Refuge and Splitz.
