New Drama in Production

Latest News

Following the combined success of our multi international award winning drama production: 'The Overdose Notes', Omni Productions in partnership with communications agency Glennie-McIntosh are pleased to announce a new production on the subject of Domestic Abuse.

Domestic abuse represents a huge cost to the community. Every year some 6’000 incidents are reported to the public, but from national research this is the tip of the iceberg. It is estimated that at least 80% of domestic abuse incidents go unreported. Nationally two women every week are murdered as a consequence of domestic abuse. Within Wiltshire alone there have been some 50 domestic abuse related murders over the last 20 years. The cost in human suffering not only to the immediate victims and their friends and families but to the social and economic fabric of the Wiltshire county is huge. Estimates are that the total cost of domestic abuse in Wiltshire is at least £31.5 million per annum of which £15 million is borne by employers.

The production of a film based on the experience of a victim but which also highlights the implications for the perpetrator and children will provide an opportunity not only to raise the profile of domestic abuse as a crime, but to encourage victims to come forward and to invigorate organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector to take positive action to support victims.

The Drama currently in preproduction will be actively used by Wiltshire Police and numerous Domestic Abuse Organizations regionally, with the mind to national use over time.

As an exciting development, the drama is also due to be screened by ITV in the new year with supporting coverage featured in news programming.
